“I like to think of the coquí as a reminder that no matter how dark the night gets, our voices will carry through the darkness and, eventually, find the light,”

Roots of the Coquí:

Discovering who I am.

“Who Am I?” follows Miguel, an 11-year-old boy on a journey to discover his roots and identity. When his curiosity sparks questions about where he comes from, his father takes him on an unforgettable exploration of their Puerto Rican heritage. From listening to the coquí frogs sing to visiting museums filled with stories of the past, Miguel learns that understanding who he is means honoring where he’s been. Through heartfelt conversations and powerful lessons about culture and family, this beautifully illustrated story invites readers to celebrate the strength and resilience passed down through generations. Discover how the spirit of the island and its people live on, carried like a song through the darkest nights.
